Benjamin couldn't understand why Clarissa was accusing him. He knew he hadn't pushed Daisy into the water.
He turned his pleading eyes to Seth, hoping for help.
Seth stood there, drenched from head to toe, his expression colder than the lake water. "Benjamin, if you did it, be honest. Did you push her or not?"
Seeing that even his father doubted him, Benjamin burst into tears and shook his head. "I didn't do it."
Clarissa quickly stepped in, placing herself between Seth and Benjamin. Her voice was soft, almost pleading. "Seth, don't be too hard on him. He saw how kind you were to Daisy earlier. No kid wants to see their dad treating someone else better than them. He was just jealous and acted out. Don't blame him. If anyone's at fault, it's me for not keeping a closer eye on him."
Her words only worsened the situation, convincing everyone that Benjamin was guilty.
