Chapter 35
Sylvia glanced at Layla, her tone laced with disbelief. "Are you saying Daisy just called that jerk?"
Layla remained silent, offering only a slight nod.
Sylvia gritted her teeth, anger flashing in her eyes. "What makes that jerk deserve it? After everything he did to you and Daisy! If it weren't for him, Daisy wouldn't have this condition. Why does she call him first? It's so unfair to you."
Layla gently tugged Sylvia's arm and whispered, "Stop it. Daisy understands everything. She just can't express it."
Sylvia's voice sharpened as her frustration spilled over. "I just don't understand. When you left the Parker residence, you were barely hanging on. And what was he doing? Getting engaged to his precious little sweetheart. If he had even the slightest feelings for you, he wouldn't have moved on so fast."
Their conversation was cut short by the sudden chime of the doorbell.
Daisy, who had been lying quietly on Mark's shoulder, suddenly lit up, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
