CHAPTER 150: IN THE FACE OF DEATH
Shirley moaned out as sharp pain sliced through her body, sending goosebumps across her skin.
She tried to move, but her body felt as heavy as lead, and her limbs were unresponsive.
She managed to drag her hands over to her thighs and pinched herself to make sure she was still alive because death was not supposed to be this painful.
Thankfully, she still was; the sharp prick of her fingers digging into her flesh was proof enough.
She glanced up but could only see the dimly lit sky from her deep hole.
"Well, at least…he didn't try to cover me up with soil," she muttered, her voice empty and dry from exhaustion and dehydration.
She tried to lift her arm, but it flopped back down. She tried to push herself up, but her arms felt boneless. Her mind screamed in frustration, but her voice was barely audible enough to her.
I'll rest a while, then try again. She thought, willing herself to hope that a few moments of not moving would give her enough strength to save herself.
She shivered
