"Thank you," Evelyn said sincerely as her eyes shone clear and bright.
Damian, who had been lounging lazily, stiffened. His gaze flickered briefly before he closed his eyes completely.
Just when Evelyn was about to shrug it off and head to work, a deep voice came from inside the car.
"Why are you thanking me? This was all arranged by my grandfather."
Evelyn's smile faltered, and her voice turned dry. "Yes, I know. I'll remember Mr. Blackwell Senior's kindness and repay him in the future."
Damian frowned and looked at her seriously. "You don't have to."
"If we're really going to settle accounts, the Blackwells owe your family a debt that might never be repaid in a lifetime."
Evelyn frowned in confusion. "Huh?"
Could there be more to the heirloom than she knew?
Noticing her bewilderment, Damian hesitated before continuing, "Anyway, don't worry about it. Just live comfortably here with the Blackwells. You don't owe us anything. There are things you'll understand in time."
