Sarah froze, at that moment she had no idea what to do besides stand there and stare down at her phone. After a few seconds, it stopped ringing and a breath of relief rushed out of her only to get stuck in again as the phone started ringing a second time. This time, reluctantly, Sarah picked up the phone. “Hey Eric, sorry I was in the bathroom, and couldn’t reach the phone in time.” Sarah willed herself to steady her voice. “Oh don’t worry about it. I was actually just wrapping up at work and was wondering if you wanted to get some dinner and just talk, you know we haven't really spent much time together in forever and I just… I miss you.” The hope in his voice cut Sarah deep.
