For some reason, Zelda saw a sense of betrayal on Damian's face.
Mabel stood next to him, smiling as if she hadn't noticed his tense expression. "What a coincidence! I remember seeing Ms. Cantrell with this gentleman in the coffee shop last time. I can't believe we're running into each other again!"
Her words were clearly meant to stir the pot.
Zelda couldn't help but wonder if this was all just a coincidence. It felt like Mabel had a GPS tracking her.
"It is quite a coincidence. One might think you're following me," Zelda replied with a light chuckle.
Mabel showed no signs of embarrassment as she tilted her head to look at Damian. "Damian and I were just passing by and thought we'd stop for lunch since it's noon."
Zelda couldn't be bothered to argue, so she simply looked down and ignored Mabel.
Mabel then turned to Damian and asked, "Since we've run into each other, why don't we have lunch together?"
Damian didn't respond. Instead, he walked over and sat next to Zelda, glaring
