Theo turns to me with a slack-jawed, awed look on his face and I find myself so uncomfortable that I wish the couch would just absorb me for a while and let me process everything. Right now, my head is spinning, and I have a feeling it’s going to spin a lot more.
“Hold up,” I say, raising my hand to signal them both to stop. “I… so you mean to say that the father of the known rebellion almost fifty years ago is my real father? The one who built the Unclaimed Camp?”
“Yes,” Paul says, and he gives me no reason to dismiss it as a lie. “Back then, the invasion of the Werewolves was only fifty years old. We still had a Human government that actually functioned. They were talking about peace back then, about cohabitation. Each species helping each other.”
“That’s what their leader is talking about now,” Theo puts in. “It’s funny to see that being on the table nearly fifty years ago and still nothing happening.”
“It is funny, because even back then it was a big joke.” Paul shakes
