Cordelia stubbornly wiped away the tears from her cheeks, and her fist clenched tightly. She glared at Benedict. "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to decide my freedom? From now on, I hate you!"
Instant fury flared in Benedict's eyes, his gaze icy and penetrating, jawline taut as a wire.
"Cordelia, don't forget it was you who insisted I marry you in the first place!" Benedict's fingertips tightened around the coffee cup. He accidentally applied too much pressure, resulting in a shattering sound.
The atmosphere seemed to have frozen. Their gazes locked, intense and unyielding. No one gave way to the other.
