At the long oak table, Cameron sat next to me, with our pack—our family—enveloping us. In celebration of their Alpha's homecoming, the warriors who had previously been shunned were sharing food, beverages, and survival tales. Although it should have felt ideal, I couldn't help but notice the tightness that persisted. There was an impending event. It was palpable in my bones.
