Lucas looked up from his laptop when Evelyn entered the hospital room. He wasn't surprised to see her.
It was just past 9:00 am.
Evelyn walked over and placed the breakfast she had bought next to him. “Got this downstairs. Have you eaten?”
Lucas glanced at it. He had never eaten this kind of cheap, pre-packaged breakfast from a convenience store before, and she knew his preferences and habits well.
He typically had his meals around 7:30 am.
She knew that, which meant she was just going through the motions.
Lucas' eyes lingered on her face for a moment, then shifted to the breakfast on the table. He said slowly, “You put a lot of thought into it.”
Evelyn pretended not to catch the sarcasm in his tone. Instead, she looked at his injuries.
His bandages were wrapped tightly, so she could barely see what was underneath. Judging by the look of it, he couldn't move his right arm at all. However, the abrasions on his right hand were clearly visible and shocking.
