"As I've mentioned, your mother's condition is acute. There's a significant chance of recovery if we promptly begin treatment," the doctor earnestly explained.
"Thank you, doctor. Please proceed with the arrangements immediately."
I knew that the longer a patient's treatment was delayed, the more their mindset could deteriorate, and they'd grow increasingly anxious.
The doctor sighed and shook his head. "I'd like to help, but there are pending payments. We have to follow the rules…"
I gripped his hand tightly and pleaded, "I'm begging you. Please start the treatment now! I promise to gather the money by noon tomorrow. Please trust me. I swear I'll make it happen!"
I had to make sure that my mom wouldn't lose this opportunity. I would give everything I had even if it meant sacrificing my life.
The doctor nodded helplessly. "Do it quickly."
The moment I stepped out of the office, my phone buzzed. It was a call from Ophelia.
I adjusted my tone before answering. "What's going on?"
