CHAPTER EIGHTY FIVE – UP TO PERFECTION
The next morning dawned far too early for Laura's liking. Her head pounded from the combination of alcohol and stress, and her stomach churned with anxiety about her impending meeting with Logan. She dragged herself out of bed, showered quickly, and threw on some nondescript clothes before heading out to their predetermined meeting spot.
The "usual spot" was a small, out-of-the-way park that was typically deserted at this early hour. As Laura approached, she spotted Logan sitting on a bench, appearing to all the world like an early morning jogger taking a breather.
"You look like hell," Logan said by way of greeting as Laura sat down beside him.
"Good morning to you too," Laura muttered, wincing at the sound of her own voice. "What's the situation with Mia?"
Logan's face grew serious. "It's not good, Laura. Mia was found in her apartment two days ago. Made to look like a suicide, but our people are certain it was a hit."
Laura felt her stomach drop. "Do we know who's responsible?"
