CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR – XYON’S TRUE NATURE
As night fell, Laura made her way to the old oak at the eastern border. Her heart pounded in her chest as she scanned the darkness for any sign of Xyon. Suddenly, a twig snapped behind her.
"I'm glad you came," Xyon's voice cut through the silence.
Laura spun around, trying to keep her composure. "I want to hear what you have to say," she said, her voice steadier than she felt.
Xyon stepped closer, a smirk playing on his scarred face. "Smart girl. You see, Laura, I know about your frustrations with Logan and his pack. I'm offering you a chance to be part of something bigger, something that could change the balance of power in this conflict."
As Xyon spoke, Laura subtly signaled to her hidden allies. But before they could spring into action, a low growl echoed through the trees. Xyon's eyes widened in realization.
"You little fool," he snarled, his form beginning to shift. "Did you really think you could outsmart me?"
