Chapter 365
I didn't know how to respond to Abigail's words, so I simply said nothing. I knew that even if I argued with her, she wouldn't care. She would just see it as me being unreasonable.
To me, home felt like a cold and oppressive place. Abigail wouldn't let me move out. She insisted on keeping me under her watchful eye, refusing to let me go.
I had given in, but at least I could still go to work. It offered a small comfort in my otherwise difficult life.
The next morning, I hailed a cab and went straight to the office.
When I arrived, I noticed something unusual. Everyone's gaze held a mix of curiosity and surprise. It seemed they hadn't expected me to return to work at all.
Ethan approached me with a smile and greeted me warmly. "Samuel, you're here! It's been days. You're looking much better than before."
I responded with a faint smile. "Really? It certainly doesn't feel that way to me. Lately, so many things have been wearing me out, but your kind words are a small comfort."
Ethan
