The icy wind howled relentlessly, slapping my face with its ferocity. Abigail didn't seem to remember, or perhaps didn't care, that I couldn't stand the cold. Being exposed to the freezing wind felt unbearable.
She only saw what she wanted to see and did what she wanted to do. To her, I had never truly existed. I was nothing more than her dog, a convenient target for her humiliation and mistreatment. As long as she beckoned, I was expected to crawl back to her side obediently, with no room for resistance.
Everything had to be on her terms. Any slight deviation from her demands would ignite her fury. I had endured this kind of life for far too long.
At that moment, I realized something undeniable. Running away wouldn't solve anything. I needed to end things with her once and for all.
My only wish was to break free from her grasp and leave this suffocating situation behind.
