Chapter 406: The making of a City

The layout of the council building had changed. Previously, it was circular, with high seats and tables that made the ground seem far away. She hated it, of course, so she remodeled. She had all the high seats and tables removed and replaced them with a long table surrounded by chairs, all closer to the ground. Things like this kept her grounded. After the remodeling, along with the excessive darkness that had once permeated the room, the space was now well-lit, making it look completely different from before.
The past few days had been filled with nothing but cleanups—funerals here and there for the soldiers who had died, and even more cleanups. She stood before yet another assembly, using magic to amplify her voice.
“The way things were will stop,” she declared. “Simply put, there is no ruling council.”
