Chapter 329: Pregnant Clouds

Avario stood with his face turned upward, looking at the sky. This rainforest seemed to always have pregnant clouds. Every time he looked outside the window, he noticed them. He hated it a little, but it was growing on him, almost as though he was at home in this environment after all. The sun peered out from behind the clouds occasionally, only to be covered up again. Slowly, he opened his eyes, breathed in the air, and let the smell of rain that he knew was coming flood his senses. Finally, he looked out in front of him. He stood in a courtyard. Not many had come to watch; he knew that. Few had the loyalty or the best interests of the Pack in mind, and he was also willing to bet that the Alpha had not publicized his impending failure.
"So, this is what it’s come to, Avario?" the boy sneered, pacing back and forth like a predator preparing to strike. "You come back here after all these years, and now you want to challenge me? For what? The pack? My position?"
