"I'm an Omega," I said softly. They had been at sea ever since the storm, for about another week and a half. I felt an apprehension deep in my belly. After the storm, it had slowly twisted until it reached a point where it was beginning to suffocate me.
"That doesn't matter," Lucia said.
"It doesn't?" I raised my head to find her. She still sat in the corner of my room. She seemed to like that spot. It wasn’t just my room, I realized—it was our room. They had unfortunately not given her a cot, which I considered extreme gutter behavior. But, being a prisoner, I had no say. Besides, Lucia had told me not to complain.
"You always told me to keep silent. Don't let them in. Don't let them know you're fine. Don’t let them think everything is fine with you. Who knows what they'll do? It’s better to behave as though you are still broken, still scarred. You'll thank me later," she said.
