Baron looked at him. His eyes were similar to Talia’s. A few gestures they made were so similar he almost felt like pulling Frederick into his arms and hugging him. His brother. He felt this as he stepped closer to him.
“I couldn’t imagine what you must be going through,” Frederick said slowly. Frederick’s voice was heavy, just as Baron’s had been earlier when he was consoling his twins. Neither of them had accepted it well. Neither could comprehend what loss did to him. Frederick placed a hand on Baron’s shoulder, squeezing it slightly.
“I stopped by Ariel on my way,” Baron said a few moments later. “If it’s more bad news, I already know she’s gone. And I know it’s my fault.”
“Don’t say that,” Frederick said. Baron, however, kept his eyes fixed on the ground, his gaze specifically set on the joining of the tiles on the floor where they met.
