"I'm sorry," Gabriel shook his head. "It makes no sense. The coalition of alphas is making no sense."
“Do they ever?” Baron muttered under his breath. Gabriel raised his voice, and Baron remembered a time when that was all Gabriel ever did. In truth, looking at Gabriel now, it was rather strange to see how calm and measured he had become. Four years ago? Five years ago? Gabriel was a beast—a man who yelled at the top of his lungs at everyone and everything.
Baron stifled a laugh as he recalled the first time Gabriel had yelled at him, specifically about his schooling. It had been in the middle of a festival, causing many people around them to laugh. Perhaps that had been the start of Gabriel's change, Baron thought.
Violent thoughts, Baron mused to himself, as Gabriel continued to vent about the coalition's demands—or rather, the ridiculous proposal they had made him just before he left the capital city.
