I was beginning to get sick of the constant surveillance. "Baron, please," I said, cornering him just as he was leaving my room on his way outside. "I'm not fragile. I'm going to be fine. Besides, what’s going to happen now?"
He shook his head and tried to disguise his concern, but the pained expression on his face broke my heart. I didn’t understand his sudden reaction, and neither did he tell me what he saw.
"I'm going to go to the library and find out myself if you're not going to tell me anything," I said threateningly.
"I will not let you. You will not set foot out of this place, Talia, and I mean it. I would die if anything happened to you," he said in a gruff and harsh voice.
I didn’t find it endearing to know that he truly cared, but then again, it wasn’t as though I had a choice. "You know this isn’t going to change anything. It’s only going to make you worry more," I retorted, shaking my head and raising my eyebrows.
