Celine huffed out an impatient breath and got out of the car just as Ryan and Agatha did. They climbed around the tree trunk, which was as big as Celine’s entire wingspan multiplied by several times. They emerged on the other side. Once there, Celine leaned against the tree and pulled out a snack from the back of her pocket.
“What?” she asked when Ryan and Agatha looked at her.
“I’m hungry,” she said. “Don’t worry; I’m not going to toss it on the floor or something.” She took the first bite of her snack. The two of them waited until she finished. “Just to prove that I truly meant it,” she said as she shoved the wrapper back into her pocket. “See? I told you I’m not going to litter the goddess-forsaken Witches’ Forest,” she said with annoyance.
They continued walking until it was dark.
“Looks like I’m going to have to continue tomorrow,” Celine said.
“Unfortunately,” Ryan agreed.
“I don’t think I can sleep out here,” Agatha declared as she rubbed her hands together.
