“Your face looks terrible,” Geral said.
Frederick looked at him. The young male was beginning to get bold, but Frederick didn't mind. For now, he would serve as his replacement until he had probably found someone else.
“That’s because I feel terrible,” Frederick replied, throwing his head back against his chair.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Geral asked.
“Do you want to talk about your role on the council?” Frederick shot back. Geral shook his head.
“It’s hard,” Geral said as he took a seat opposite Frederick at the other end of the desk.
“What is hard?” Frederick asked, briefly lifting his head and glaring at him.
“Everything,” Geral said. “I thought council members were simply having a never-ending holiday. I couldn’t have been more wrong. They weren’t. There’s work, and they never have time to rest. I would like to go home and sleep, but I’ve been at the office for the past two days working on your trade agreements with Diamond.”
