Frederick went back once he had seen his sister off. She's in good hands, he told himself throughout the journey back to Stormbroke. Once there, however, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
He had opted to take the river path instead of the three-day journey through the forest by himself, as he was still not completely healed from his injuries. Frankly, he wasn’t sure what he had been expecting, but he was not pleased with what he saw.
District One was in disarray. “What is going on here?” Frederick asked, turning to a passerby.
