Did he feel bad about leaving? Possibly. He watched his Beta, Gabriel, look at him with a strange emotion in his eyes. Gabriel was the name Baron had been given, or at least that’s what he thought. Baron understood why the male wasn’t the Alpha.
Aside from the obvious energy he exuded, it was very difficult not to want to kneel in his presence out of sheer magnitude of dominance. But Baron didn’t think he was one to do that—at least not in the way he was thinking.
“So how do we find this poison?” he asked.
Avantika didn’t look clueless, but her face was blank. “I don’t know,” she said. “I haven’t really met many who’ve dealt with poison in my whole life. But I could ask a few people.”
He shook his head. “I don’t want you to stress out. I’ll find out myself. Meanwhile, you can stay here and do your research. Check your books. You like to hide your brain inside them.”
