“How long will we be here?” Gabriel asked, looking expectant.
“As long as it takes,” Baron replied, continuing to watch Avario. Avario looked at peace, but he appeared as peaceful as anyone with a blank canvas for a mind.
Baron walked up to Avario through the trees of the town and stopped in front of the golden-eyed man.
“We need to find Talia,” he said firmly. “Are you up for this?”
Avario nodded, his eyes distant and somewhat unfocused. “I don’t think that will be a good idea,” he said, looking at the physician called Avantika.
Baron turned to them. “My men will stay here. My beta will stay and look after them.” Baron suddenly chuckled.
“You’re always like this,” he said out of earshot of his company. “Protecting others comes naturally for you. You might just be an Alpha in the making,” Baron added in his mind.
“That’s why I think you’ll be better off if you come with us,” Baron said, placing a heavy hand on Avario’s shoulder.
