ARIEL'S POV
"You know, Mom, it's not just about Dad. It's about you. I've always seen you as this strong, independent woman who never needed anyone else. And now, with Gustavo..." I trailed off, struggling to find the words.
My mother nodded, understanding the unspoken sentiment. "I get it, Ariel. And believe me, I don't need anyone else to be happy. But being strong doesn't mean I have to be alone."
As I gazed up at my mother, the concern etched on her face, I realized that my own fears and preconceptions were limiting her possibilities. Yes, she was strong, but being strong didn't mean being alone.
I took a deep breath, wanting to make things right. "Mom, I'm sorry. You deserve happiness, whatever that may look like. And if that means finding love again, then I'll support you. But can you promise me that you'll always be honest with me? That you'll always let me know if you need anything?"
As I finished speaking, I saw a mixture of relief and gratitude flood my mother
