"My resignation was approved by you," I said calmly.
"Impossible! I don't remember ever allowing you to quit!" Harley's expression grew increasingly panicked.
He immediately began searching for the resignation records. I watched him with quiet composure. I wasn't surprised at all—just amused.
What could he possibly remember?
Aside from worrying whether Megan had a place to stay, whether she was eating well, whether she was getting enough rest… he never remembered anything else.
He didn't remember that I had resigned. He didn't remember the pain of abandonment he caused me. And he certainly didn't remember how hard I worked—how much I sacrificed—for every project.
Harley wasn't panicking because I left. He was panicking because now there was no one to clean up his messes.
