William paced the library, his frustration mounting with each passing second. He couldn’t dismiss the feeling that Marcus was behind the missing documents, and the thought that his own brother might be plotting against him was infuriating. The library’s antique clock ticked loudly, marking the minutes until Marcus’s arrival.
When the door finally swung open, Marcus strolled in with his usual air of casual arrogance. He looked around the room, his gaze lingering on the book-lined walls before settling on William.
“What’s so urgent, little brother?” Marcus asked, his tone dripping with mock concern. “You sounded almost frantic on the phone.”
William glared at him, clenching his fists to keep his temper in check. “Cut the crap, Marcus. I know you’re up to something, and I’m interested in knowing what it is.”
