Mrs. Woodwell and Quinn sat across from each other in Quinn’s opulent study, the atmosphere thick with tension. The documents lay on the table between them, a silent reminder of the power struggle that loomed over their heads.
“I trust you understand the gravity of the situation, Mrs. Woodwell,” Quinn began, her voice dripping with disdain. “These documents hold the key to your family’s future, and I will not hesitate to use them to protect what is rightfully ours.”
Mrs. Woodwell met Quinn’s steely gaze with a cool composure of her own.
“I am well aware of the importance of these documents, especially since they belong to me. But let’s not pretend that our interests align in any way. You and I are nothing alike. Unlike you, I know where my loyalty stands.” Quinn’s lips curled into a disdainful sneer.
“You speak as if you have any claim to loyalty, Mrs. Woodwell. After what happened to Gift, I find it hard to believe that you have the audacity to show your face here.”
