Quinn strode down the hallway, her mind preoccupied with the recent upheavals in her carefully laid plans. She turned a corner sharply and almost collided with Marcus, who was walking in the opposite direction.
“Watch where you’re going,” Quinn snapped, irritated by the sudden interruption.
Marcus raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips.
“Aunt, always in a rush.” Quinn straightened, her eyes narrowing as she looked at him.
“Marcus.”
He crossed his arms, leaning casually against the wall.
“I’ve heard some interesting things lately. About plans being made behind my back. You wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Quinn’s expression remained steely.
Marcus’s smile faded, replaced by a cold, hard look.
“Don’t play games with me, Aunt. I’ve seen you maneuvering, pulling strings. It’s not that hard to figure out actually.” Quinn tilted her chin up defiantly.
“And what if I am? It’s all for the good of the family.”
