Chapter 14 Something’s Not Right

The past few days had been frustrating, to say the least. I had done everything I could to support Daniel—bringing him food, checking in on him, encouraging him. And yet, he barely had time for me. His mind was consumed with job applications and interviews, to the point where I felt like I was just hovering in the background of his life.
I understood. I really did. But a small part of me wished he would just take my offer instead of exhausting himself like this. I could help him—I wanted to help him. But Daniel was too proud to accept anything from me.
On the second day, his search continued, but that evening, he finally called me with some good news.
"I got an interview," he told me, his voice a mix of excitement and nerves.
Hearing that, I practically beamed. "Daniel, that’s amazing! I told you someone would see your worth. When’s the interview?"
"Tomorrow morning," he said, exhaling deeply. "I’m kind of nervous about it."
