Miguel wasn't even sure why he felt this way. It was like he had owned a dog—one that had always wagged its tail at him, desperate for his attention, ready to come and go at his command.
But now, that same dog had suddenly run off, found a new owner, and was eagerly pleasing them while treating Miguel with nothing but indifference.
