Nick observed the interaction between Olivera and Leonard with a thoughtful smile. He was relieved that their first meeting had been free of conflict, a small blessing that would make their upcoming journey smoother. He knew that having Leonard as an ally would ease his own worries about Olivera’s safety and well-being.
“Well, we should get going then,” Leonard said abruptly, his tone leaving little room for debate.
Straight to the point as always, Nick mused, signaling Olivera to rise from her seat. It was time to return to her quarters. A twinge of regret hit him as he realized he would miss her presence. The brief time they had shared had been surprisingly meaningful.
