Caitlin stood at the cabin window, watching the relentless downpour. The rain cascaded from the sky like delicate silver threads, creating a steady rhythm against the panes. Despite the warmth inside, she shivered, wrapping her arms tightly around herself. Something was deeply wrong, and she couldn’t shake the feeling of impending doom that had settled within her.
“Caitlin, what’s going on?” Raven’s voice was soft, laced with concern, but cautious enough not to intrude.
Caitlin swallowed hard, her gaze still fixed on the gloomy horizon. “Zendedari,” she whispered, “he’s cut himself off from me completely.” Her voice cracked, the pain evident. “I thought I wanted space, that I needed freedom from the constant connection we share. But now that he’s gone… it’s like I can’t breathe. I can’t reach him, Raven. He won’t let me in.”
