One Rogue, I thought. That would not be so bad, right? After all, they are only strong in numbers. Two wolves could definitely take it down.
I manage to draw one of the knives I brought and I just wait for it to come close enough. However, Tristan has different ideas. As the Rogue floats midair, he unsheathes his sword and slices its head off in one fluid motion. Its head rolls on the floor, its body hitting the ground with a wet squelch.
He turns to me with a grin. “I can’t believe this is the first threat we both get after plaguing us with those dreams. A single Rogue with—”
Before he can finish, the Rogue on the ground starts to move. To my complete horror, its head starts to reattach to its body, zooming into place as though they’re connected by magnets. Soon enough, the Rogue is growling again, its blood flowing back into its body as though in reverse. With its bones cracking, it gets up, and I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but it looks bigger than before.
