It’s funny how emotions work, how one can be perfectly happy one moment despite all the problems and quickly become grounded and fallen in a single second. That’s how it is for me right now. Soaring high one second, plummeting to the ground the next.
‘What happened?’ I ask, getting up and getting close to Tristan, who backs away when he feels my anger. ‘What did you do? How did you let this happen?'
I know he can’t hear me. He probably can’t understand a thing either. But Tristan seems to be picking up on the rage just fine, because he holds up his hands and says, “I… I don’t know what you are saying, but I assume you’re wondering why that happened. Or how. I should have watched over his cell personally, because I entrusted it to his own guards and I believe now that some of them may have been loyalists. I couldn’t spare my own guards.
