“The night is pretty warm,” I commented while we walked side by side on the busy street illuminated by golden lights filled with people touring the street like us and stalls, restlessly marketing their products.
He hummed in agreement, smiling at the stars in the sky.
“It’s beautiful,” he remarked.
I rewarded him with an amused look. “Are you suddenly taking interest in the stars tonight because of what I said earlier in the bowling alley?”
He chuckled.
“Because you look to me like one who doesn’t give a damn about these kinds of things. What’s that favorite word of yours again? Oh yeah ‘it’s pointless’”
He chuckled again.
“The former me would have said that but now…”
“You’re trying to impress me?”
“I want to see the world from your perspective. Why do you take joy in these things? How does it soothe you?”
I smiled and looked into the sky, staring at the flickering stars that decorated the night. “Everything tonight here reminds me of my first night in New Orleans.”
