Maddox. I gently stroked Desiree’s right hand while I was seated beside her on our bed. She looked so peaceful in her sleep yet the turbulence in my mind was the definition of chaos itself. It was hauntingly familiar to the night I almost lost her to my brother. Now that I was thinking about it, that night was the beginning of our children’s nemesis.
