“Mom…” I softly toned as I walked into her office alongside Martins. She turned away from her window side and returned her glass of whiskey to her desk.
“My boy,” she flashed me a tiny smile but I didn’t reciprocate and her smile slowly lost its glow.
“Seat,” she beckoned but I refused. Her eyes bonded deeply with mine for a while before she exhaled sharply.
“I won’t apologize for my actions last night,” she uttered, “Apologizing only makes the message I tried to pass last night to you look weak.”
A tiny smile lifted the corner of my lips. “Typical you. Yet somehow your words feel like an apology.”
“Take it how you want.” She looked away. “Surely you’re not here to just check on me. Especially when you’re here with Martins.”
Martins and I shared gazes with each other. He was still confused as to why I decided to come see my mother. He was probably wondering what choice I would make. Whether it was the Pack or Marianne.
“I want to leave the Pack,” I said.
