“You don’t talk much,” Charlize chirped while I focused on the steering.
“What’s there to talk about?” I responded without a glance at her.
“Well, neither of us knows how long this journey is going to take us so I figured it would be best if we at least build a bond.”
My eyes wandered to her dismissively. “A bond.”
“We should be anything but total strangers,” she affirmed. “In case you haven’t heard, the Northern werewolves are the most brutal.”
“I don’t care. All I want is to find Black Rose and punish them.”
“It’s just you against them, you won’t survive.”
I glanced at her again. “Who says I’m alone?”
“Of course, for a moment I’ve almost forgotten whose son you are.”
“Stop,” I icily quoted. “You don’t have to constantly remind me whose son I am. It’s infuriating.”
Her eyes kept boring holes at me while my grip tightened on the steering. My parents failed me, the last thing I need right now is to entertain old memories.
“That look of yours says a lot,” she remarked
