Alice's POV
At the stroke of six in the evening, a message from my fiancé, Cesar, graced the screen of my phone. The words were simple yet filled with an air of urgency, "I came back home. Meet me."
It was a well-known fact that my heart belonged to Cesar, and the world around me echoed this sentiment. However, as I read his message, a peculiar unease settled within me. Something felt amiss, though I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Summoning my courage, I swiftly composed a response, "Alright, Cesar. I am on my way."
His reply came swiftly, filled with affection, "See you, my love."
I stared at his words, etched on the screen, reading them over and over again. 'My love.' The weight of those two words failed to fully register within me.
Leaving the confines of my room, I ventured out to meet Cesar.
As I stepped into the hallway, the maids, who were usually familiar faces, regarded me with unfamiliar gazes.
"Nadia," I called out to one of the maids, seeking answers.
