Oblivion
Azalea.
The monotonous click of my heels was the only sound that broke the silence of the night. I couldn’t believe I let Diane talk me into this as I rounded the corner of where Oblivion, a high-end nightclub was located. The sound picked up, from cars to rows of people chatting animatedly as they waited their turn for the bouncer to put a stamp on their hands and enter.
A sudden, forceful bark startled me. I peered over my shoulder to see a stray dog crossing the street. Guilt tugged inside my chest as I continued walking, wishing I was allowed to keep animals at the Black Bill.
Then again, maybe it was a good thing I couldn’t, as no doubt I’d end up with my own, personal zoo. That, and taking care of pets was an expense I couldn’t afford.
