Anger rolled inside my chest in waves. First, they came gradually, then sped up, crashing so hard that my body began to tremble. My fists clenched to my sides, it took every little bit of willpower I had left not to lose my shit.
“Anything?” I turned, and began pacing. If I didn’t get to do something, and soon, I was afraid I might lash out on the wrong people.
The closest to me right now was Jace and Xavius.
Jace, who was still recovering, was nursing himself with four Starbucks coffees and three boxes of donuts.
Lisa entered the control room, half snorting, and rolling her eyes when she saw Jace’s pity party in the corner. “Have you found anything yet?” she asked, glancing at me.
“I’m waiting, just like you,” I bit out. Her face pulled into a frown, and I sighed. “Sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”
“You’re worried. It’s understandable.” She pulled out a chair and sat down beside Xavius, then placed a hand on his thigh in a comforting gesture as he worked on the computer.
