ANDREA’S POV
I was momentarily stunned by the sparks above me, and I froze, my neck craned up as I took in the beauty that lit up the night sky.
“Beautiful,” I whispered.
“Yeah,” I heard Caleb say in the same soft tone. “Beautiful.”
I tore my gaze away from the sky to look at him. His eyes were already on me, and as the fireworks exploded, they lit up his face and made his blue eyes glow like an ethereal being.
“I prepared all this for you. Do you like it?” he said, his face morphing into something…hopeful, like he was expecting something. A compliment? My gratitude?
‘Think about that when Caleb tries any bullshit.’
I blinked.
Kade’s voice in my head suddenly grounded me.
I gasped, remembering what I was doing before the fireworks started. Turning away from Caleb, my gaze fell to where I had dropped my phone and I grabbed it from the floor.
I swore when I turned the device over and saw the cracks spider-webbed all over the screen.
