CHAPTER 69: I THINK I LOVE HER
Daniel, his feet feeling heavy as lead, began his descent down the stairs, each step echoing his dread and fear. He muttered under his breath, a silent prayer for strength and clarity. “What does he want? Why is he so angry?”
His mind swam with possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last. Perhaps he had done something wrong, something that had displeased his grandfather. Or maybe it was something else entirely, something that Daniel had no way of knowing.
As he drew closer to the source of the voice, the tremor of anxiety reverberating through his veins, Daniel’s fear gave way to a glimmer of hope. “Why was he being called?” he wondered, a desperate plea for mercy echoing in his mind.
Perhaps it was nothing. Perhaps his grandfather had simply forgotten something, or needed a small favor. But deep down, he knew that the anger in his grandfather’s voice was not without reason, and the anxiety gnawed at his insides like a swarm of tiny insects.
