CHAPTER 49 THE BRAWLING OF BROTHERS

Her voice broke on the last word, her chest heaving with a mixture of horror and relief as she remembered the events that had just unfolded. Emily's expression darkened, her eyes narrowing to slits of malice as Juliet stood there, silent and cowed. "Don't you dare act all innocent with me!" she hissed, venom seeping into every word. "You used my sweet cousin, you two-faced witch. You led him on, got his hopes up, and then you shut him out. And for what? For him to lose his mind and try to...to rape you? You're nothing but a manipulative whore." Juliet bit her lip, fighting back the retort that threatened to burst from her mouth like a tidal wave. "Please, Emily shut up," she whispered, her voice trembling with effort. "I know this is a difficult situation for you but it is for me too. I understand that. But you have to believe me. I never wanted it to come to this and I never wanted to hurt him." Her words hung in the air, a fragile bridge between the sisters, waiting to see if Em
