Before he could say anything more, Juliet leaned in and kissed him, her lips pressing against his with a forceful intensity. It wasn’t a kiss born of love or passion, but of anger and defiance. She kissed him with the intent to hurt, to show Caleb that she had chosen Daniel, even if it meant tearing herself apart in the process.
Caleb, watching from the doorway, felt a sharp, searing pain in his chest as he saw Juliet kiss Daniel.
His heart shattered, and tears welled up in his eyes. He couldn’t bear to watch any longer. With a heavy heart, he turned away, his vision blurring as he shut the door behind him.
