As she disappeared down the room, Evans felt a pang of regret. He knew his plan was risky, but he believed it was the best chance they had. He couldn’t let his pride get in the way of protecting their future.
He stood there for a moment, gathering his thoughts, then slowly walked to the window, staring out into the night. The weight of the situation pressed down on him, but he resolved to follow through with his plan.
Even if Susan didn’t agree, he had to try. He had to find a way to secure their place in the company, for their sake and for the legacy they hoped to build.
Susan stormed out of the room, her steps echoing down the hall as Evans stood in stunned silence. He could hear her muttering under her breath, but the words were indistinct. With a sigh, he followed her, hoping to calm her down his heart pounding. He found her in the living room, her eyes blazing with anger as she stared up at the ceiling.
