CHAPTER 100: SHE'S A PART OF ME
"I can't let her go," Daniel murmured, his voice trembling with emotion. "I can't let her go, because she's a part of me. She's a part of who I am, who I always have been."
"What am I saying?" Daniel murmured, his voice filled with confusion and despair. "She's not here. She's gone. She left me, she abandoned me."
But even as the words left his lips, he knew that they were a lie. Juliet hadn't abandoned him. He had pushed her away, driven her away with his cruelty and his indifference.
"She's a part of me," he whispered, the truth dawning on him like a cold, hard slap. "She's a part of me, but I pushed her away. I destroyed her."
The memory was like a physical blow, a wound that would never fully heal. Daniel could still see the scene as if it were happening in front of him, as if he were reliving it in all its brutal, agonizing detail.
